Recently, North Park hosted DECA Junior, where many students in grades seven and eight came to learn more about the club and compete! There were many students who enhanced their knowledge in various business fields with the many classes that were being offered, while also enjoying the activities that were taking place throughout the day. A big shout out to all of the following business teachers; Mrs. Fiocco, Mr. Scorcia, Mrs. McKay, and Mrs. Blazina. Without them, this day would not have been possible. North Park DECA volunteers also came to school at 7:30 AM, to work very hard to make this day a success.

The students participated in an egg activity in the morning with their team and activity leaders. Many students claimed that this was their favorite activity overall. Next, they participated in an activity in which they had a list of tasks to complete within a certain time frame. They would get points based on which and how many activities they completed and the team with the most points was victorious. Afterwards, the business teachers further develop the students’ knowledge of business by teaching new vocabulary and how to effectively complete roleplays, helping the students later during the roleplay competition. Every student was then given the same case study with five minutes to prepare and five minutes to present to the judges. The judges were North Park DECA members. Later, students participated in an activity where they had to market a product in five minutes to enhance their marketing skills.

Students thoroughly enjoyed this day, and learned many business skills that they can use when they enter high school.
