A few weeks ago, North Park’s junior boys’ soccer team competed in the Brampton League Soccer ROPSSAA tournament. The regional soccer showdown was hosted at Save Max Sports Centre where schools across Peel participated.

The junior boy’s skills were displayed excellently on the field, as they have been practicing for the tournament behind the scenes everyday. One of the players, Jasonbir Lehal, scored a lethal goal against Louise Arbour Secondary School which changed the momentum of the game. Lehal stated, “I knew in that moment when we turned ball over to rush the net, from there it was all chance.” Jasonbir emphasized that it was teamwork in the end, as it was working together that paved their way to victory. Following Lehal’s goal, the boys held their own throughout the game, defending against Louis Arbour from scoring. Ultimately, the North Park  junior boys were victorious defeating Louise Arbour, with the final score being 1-0.

The North Park Junior boys soccer team performed exceptionally well. The game itself taught our athletes the value of teamwork and dedication needed in order to come out victorious. As they celebrate their victory, the junior team showcased improvements throughout the tournament, avoiding mistakes the team made in the past. Mr Zucconi, the junior boys’ team coach, stated “although the boys performed exceptionally, there is always room for improvement. I am confident that the boys will come into the next tournament avoiding these mistakes.” Throughout the game the boys communicated and coordinated perfectly, although Zucconi emphasized this area needed improvement. The boys are back at work, preparing for their return in two weeks at the Brampton League Soccer ROPSSAA tournament.

Stay tuned for updates about progress from our excellent junior boys soccer team.
