After months of preparation, the much-anticipated prom night finally arrived. Prom is a celebration for the end of our high school years, where we dress up, dance, socialize, and make memories that will last a lifetime.

Teachers welcomed students at the entrance with bubble guns and continued spreading the joy throughout the event. Attendees greeted their friends, grabbed a drink of choice, and enjoyed a three-course meal including a starter of pasta, a main course of lasagna or chicken, and an assortment of desserts and fruit. All amidst dancing to music from hip-hop to Bollywood to K-pop. And to the surprise of many students, an ice cream truck showed up at the venue and everyone had the chance to enjoy a sweet treat.

The students had voted on prom royalty leading up to the event, and at last, the names announced were Violet Nicholl and Maryrose Rimando. The crowned students enjoyed a dance with special people in their life and with each other.

A popular attraction among attendees was the photo booth because they received a photo strip as a keepsake. There was also a 360-camera booth to capture moments and memories on video. An anonymous student commented, “It was fun to take pictures together.” Another added, “My favourite part would have to be a tie between dancing with friends and the photobooths.” Some students brought their digital cameras to capture the night from their perspective.

One student described the environment as supportive, stating, “I had so much fun. It was a nice feeling to compliment everyone because everyone looked amazing and also to be complimented back. I wish the playlist was a little better, nonetheless, it was still amazing.”

A grade 12 student, Victory Agbontean, said, “The second DJ truly made the night memorable. He brought the vibe and emotions onto the dance floor, making the last few moments of prom ones we will not forget.” An anonymous student reported, “My favourite memory was when the DJ made all the seniors hold hands in a circle and we sang ‘See You Again’. It was a nice moment to share with the people I grew up with.” Another student added, “I’ll miss high school.”

Although the night ended with aching feet from hours of dancing, it was worth it for the laughter, celebration of friendships, and unforgettable memories created.
