The Asian Heritage Month performance was on May 26th in North Park’s cafeteria. Many students auditioned to be part of the assembly, but due to time constraints, only twelve performances were part of the show. These twelve performances included a mix of singing, playing the guitar, and dancing. The talented students did their very best and performed with enthusiasm. Some students were interviewed, to get some insight of how and what was going on behind-the-scenes the day of the show.
“We actually made some major changes two days before and because of that, it was very difficult to learn them on that day, and that was probably the hardest thing, but [the] thing is, we pulled through and that was the best thing of it,” said Tavlin Kaur.
Making minor changes is hard to follow, but having made major changes and giving an amazing performance is definitely worth applauding for. Most of the interviewees also mentioned that the audio on stage was quieter than the audio the audience was hearing. That confused most performers and made them miss their cue to start dancing. But as we all saw, the performers kept continuing on until the very end, regardless of any hiccups.
Udita Kapoor adds, “Getting up on stage and performing is scary itself. Even though we have performed multiple times, I still get stage fright sometimes and I am sure most of us do. But the thing that makes me do my best is dancing with my friends. They are all so good and supportive of each other.”
It’s great to see all the teamwork and support. We hope to see more performances in the future by the amazing and hard working students of North Park Secondary School.
