North Park’s cross country novice, junior, and senior boys and girls teams have just come back from the pre-ROPSSAA Heart Lake invitational race held on October 10th, 2024. Cross Country runners had to race ranging from four to six kilometres. However, the teams have been practicing consistently for the past few weeks, so it is nothing they can’t handle. The team was well pre-prepared. They returned to Heart Lake on Thursday, October 24th to compete in the ROPSSAA championships.
The novice divisions consisted of grade nine girls who had to run a four-kilometre course. Four athletes made up the novice girls’ team, which earned North Park a 12th-place ranking in that division. Prabhleen Dhillon had the shortest time of the novice girls, with a time of 28:25, which ranked her 101st place. The novice boys team consisted of nine athletes which also earned North Park a 12th-place ranking in that division. Akshat Chopra had the shortest time of the novice boys with a time of 15:58 ranking him in 14th place.
The junior divisions consisted of grade 10s and 11s who had to run a five-kilometre course. There was only one runner who competed in the junior girls division. Fiona Ly ranked 18th place with a time of 24:37. Six athletes made up the junior boys team, which earned North Park an 11th place ranking in that division. Devin Embir had the shortest time of the Junior Boys with a time of 18:39, ranking him 8th place.
The senior divisions consisted of grade 12 athletes who had to run a six-kilometre course. 12 athletes made up the seniors girls team which North Park had an 11th place rank in their division. Jordan Cantrell had the shortest time of the Senior Girls with a time of 33:23, ranking her 56th. The Senior Boy’s team consisted of 25 athletes which earned North Park a 9th place ranking in their division. Abilash Subashtharan had the shortest time of 24:58, ranking him 33rd.
