Ms. Chou is a Math teacher who currently teaches Grade 11 Functions and Grade 12 Data Management. For the second semester of this year, she will be teaching Grade 12 Calculus. Some of her favorite courses include Data Management and Calculus, which she is also looking forward to teaching.

She has a fond interest in history and crime scenes, which struck an interest for her to study forensic science. Ms. Chou planned to become a pathologist, which changed when she unfortunately wasn’t able to get into medical school, which is a requirement in Canada. Around the same time, she was a teaching assistant in her math classes and found it fun. At the suggestion of her co-worker, she decided to go to teachers college. Ms. Chou is happy with her current job as she loves helping people understand math.

Outside of math, Ms. Chou enjoys playing a variety of games including tabletop role-playing games such as Dungeons and Dragons, Pathfinder, Fate, and Vaesen. She has been a part of a 4-year D&D campaign and runs the club at our school as well. She also enjoys playing video games on a computer she built herself. Some other interests include reading books and drawing. Some of her favorite genres are fantasy, romance and mystery novels, which is what got her an interest in forensic science. Another club she runs is the manga drawing club.

When asked for any advice for students, Ms. Chou said, “There are many paths to reach your goals.” She continued by stressing how getting good grades and going to university is not the only path. While she definitely encourages students to try for university, it’s not for everyone and that’s okay. She recommends keeping your options open, because there are multiple ways to be successful.
