On March 19th, the 15 delegates from the Model UN team attended Applewood Heights for the first time. They left victorious, winning Best Delegate (1st place) across all committees. The 3 committees that the Model UN team competed in were Star Wars, The League of Corinth and UNESCO.

Four of our delegates attended the League of Corinth committee, where they were tasked with reuniting the Greek city-states to fight Persia, whilst also trying to discover a new hegemon to take control. The debate consisted of the concept of unity, possible espionage strategies to attack the Persians, trade agreements with the Persians and the concept of God itself. Unfortunately, despite their hard work, according to one delegate in the end “they had run out of time and had to experience Zeus’ wrath on humanity for not being able to complete his mission.”

In the Star Wars committee, many of our delegates were tasked to fight against the Umbarans. To overcome the issues, Shaurya Khera stated that he had a dance-off with another delegate to heal himself and continue the fight. Sometimes verbal debate isn’t the only way to solve a dispute.

Finally, we had the majority of our delegates attend the UNESCO committee where they discussed the consequences of being locked out of the digital world. While there wasn’t much murdering or dancing, the delegates worked hard to untangle and open up the discussion about the consequences of the media and potential solutions.

Thanks to our delegates’ efforts and continued passion for Model UN, Harman Ghuman, Pal Patel, and Shaurya Khera were named Best Delegate for their respective committees, and a few more received a verbal commendation. Congratulations to the team for their hard work and we can’t wait to see what they have planned for next mont
