The Class of ‘26 seniors gathered at the football field on September 12th to mark the bittersweet beginning of the end of their high school journey. Students began arriving as early as 6:00 am to watch the glowing sunrise with one another–a  display of unity as their final year began.

Senior Sunrise itself is an event that the graduating class often plans independently, even though it takes place at school. It’s a tradition that brings grade 12 students together to mark the beginning of their last year in high school, and this heartwarming ritual has finally made its way to the Class of ‘26.

The sunrise, which began at roughly 6:50 am, shone down on our seniors as they embraced the warmth from both the sun and the emotions they felt, despite the crisp morning air. The football field was filled with enthusiastic laughter, sleepy faces, and cameras flashing—not to mention the fun, cozy pajamas that most students opted to wear.

When asked about how she felt attending senior sunrise, Grade 12 student Bhavini Sacha shared, “Senior Sunrise was a milestone achieved, and I’m very glad I was able to attend it and be there with my friends to make memories that I’ll be able to cherish forever.”

Nostalgia is a bittersweet feeling that many of our seniors overwhelmingly experienced during this event. For many in the current graduating class, being a senior felt like it was always so far away. As ninth graders, it seemed as though all the seniors felt like adults—but now that we’re much closer to being adults ourselves, it feels surreal how fast the time has flown by.

The beautiful orange-red glow of the sunrise illuminated what may seem like the end of the tunnel for our senior class—but really, it was just the beginning. We can’t wait to see what else the future holds for our seniors!
