For two days, on November the 21st and 22nd, students attended the CPSSMUN competition competing in 11 committees with over 200 students from 10 schools. After hours of hard work, dedication and professional yapping, our school bagged the trophy, winning Best Delegation!
The conference opened with an introductory ceremony that set the tone for both days. In the moments leading up to their events delegates were reviewing their background guides, rehearsing potential arguments and quietly creating last minute notes. While some arrived confident and composed, others felt nervous or experienced a mix of both, aware of the challenges ahead.
Throughout the event, delegates engaged in fast paced committee sessions, tackling complex issues through debate, strategic planning and mini basketball playoffs…in some cases. The strong results reflected not only individual excellence but also the collaboration and preparation that went into the conference. Members of the executive team reflected on the outcome with humour, saying, “Should’ve brought a bigger broom, didn’t realize there were so many awards to sweep,” in reference to the delegation earning 11 awards overall!
For the presidents, the win carried personal meaning. Navroop Mondair and Pal Patel shared, “Model UN has been a part of our life since grade nine and it has been an honour to be part of such a wonderful community of like-minded people. Winning best delegation brought us such happiness and pride in our delegation.” Their remarks captured the long term dedication behind the delegation’s success at the conference.
General members also saw their efforts recognized. Ravleen Kaur reflected on her experience and stated that “MUN is one of those experiences that is super rewarding. Going into CPSSMUN, I didn’t expect to win an award, but I knew that no matter how the delegation went, I would give it my all. Seeing a position paper I spent hours working on be recognized was an experience like no other.” Her experience highlights the personal growth and academic effort that defined the conference for many delegates.
When the awards ceremony arrived, the delegation’s energy never wavered. As each award was announced, members could be seen constantly cheering, clapping and celebrating as their peers were recognized. With each award announced, the delegation’s excitement grew, and their chances of winning Best Delegation continued to rise. Their constant cheering and support energized the team, and ultimately, the delegation’s efforts were rewarded with 11 awards, which earned them the title of Best Delegation and marked a triumphant conclusion to the conference.
