Our senior boys’ basketball team secured their second win of the season against Humberview Secondary School on December 8th in our home gymnasium. The team played with discipline and resilience, maintaining their composure under pressure in the final moments. With this solid victory, the boys are now feeling confident as they approach halfway through the season, determined to carry this momentum forward.
It was an exciting afternoon as students filled the gym’s bleachers to watch the team’s 57-43 victory. The energy from the crowd’s cheering kept the boys energized, while the slick passing and huge buckets from Brandon Elijah Joseph helped control the pace. Most importantly, Coaches Brar and McKenley made exceptional, strategic time-outs, which motivated the boys to lock down defensively, securing their hard-earned victory.
Leading up to this game, practices focused on various plays and reflecting on the previous matchups, as noted by player Jahier Keshen Rumble. In an exclusive interview, Rumble described the team’s atmosphere as that of a family: it’s a culture where the guys have strong bonds with one another, supporting and holding each other accountable. Rumble emphasized these connections as being the key to their success.
After the game, the team reflected on key areas for improvement while still remembering to take the time to celebrate their fantastic win at home against Humberview Secondary School. Nonetheless, the boys remain dedicated and determined not to let this win distract them from continuing their success throughout the rest of this season.
Our senior boys sit second in the standings, only falling short to Fletcher’s Meadow Secondary School. Looking ahead, the team’s next game is an away matchup at Chinguacousy Secondary School on January 6, continuing the momentum of this notable win to battle for first on the podium. Even if it’s only halfway through the season, the boys have shown exceptional dedication and hard work. The whole staff and student body wish the team good luck for continued success for the remainder of the season.
