On November 20, 2025, the Sikh Student Association (SSA) hosted its first-ever samosa sale, offering hot and delicious samosas alongside a sweet, refreshing mango lassi in the commons.

With over 150 samosas sold and many students enjoying this event, it was a great success for the SSA. Their handmade mango lassi was made traditionally with yogurt and fresh mango, becoming an instant hit and a sweet addition to the samosas that were served.

Samosas are made with potatoes and peas mixed together as the filling and put inside the dough, which is later shaped into triangles and fried to get the crispy, delicious snack that everyone loves. Mango lassi is also very popular, but because of how refreshing it is during the warm weather, while also being nutritious and delicious.

The money made from this sale goes towards “funding future events and activities and community events,” said Manraj Kaler, the co-president of SSA. He further commented on the sale, saying, “The experience was very nice. We learned that a lot of people loved samosas and that we need to buy more for next time. We made a good amount of profit, which made us happy, and people enjoyed our handmade mango lassi. It was fun running the event overall, and I appreciated everyone who showed up and bought samosas from us.”

Navjot Kaur, the executive of SSA, said, “The samosa sale was fun. It was an exciting event to start the year off with. We chose to do samosas because they’re easy to prepare and already popular. We did mango lassi because many South Asians love mango-flavored things, and it would be a unique thing to do compared to our past sales, which were rooh afza.”

By the end of lunch, everything was sold. SSA’s first samosa sale was an instant success, achieving both its fundraising and community goals and leaving the students satisfied and excited for SSA’s future activities and events.
